From my window in my office I see horses quietly grazing in the field - until they hear something - a crow suddenly taking off can easily do the job - and they all start running in frenzy until they stop - hears pricked going a mile a minute - then they look at each other for cues - ok coast is clear - we are alive - good - back to business. Well it seems like the markets are reacting a bit that way at the moment which is consistent with the fact that humans are far closer to the animal species than the masters of the universe they present themselves to be. Our limbic system and the accompanying herd mentality are in full throttle. It's just that horses are perfectly fine with that. We are not. We need to "explain" things. H.G. Wells once said that civilization was in a race between education and catastrophe. That's right between grazing and running around in frenzy.
